How to make your own Synthetic Cannabinoid Smoking Blend

Some time ago i found a website selling Calypso (not sure if this was the name, the site is gone...), rolling tobacco infused with Synthetic Cannabinoids.

I was never a fan of pre-made blends, you never know what the hell is in those... If you don't know what's in it how are you gonna measure dosage? So i recommend a different approach, Make your own Blend! Choose your cannabinoids, choose your dosage and choose the "carrier plant"!

´

In this post ill teach you how to make your own blend step by step

The stealthiest and most convenient way to smoke synthetic cannabinoids is by applying the chemical cannabinoids on something already accepted by society: Tobacco. It isn’t the healthiest thing to smoke, but it certainly doesn’t draw much attention in public.

Why tobacco? Unlike most other herbs people are putting Noids on and smoking, we’ve done studies on smoked tobacco. Is it addicting? Nicotine is, yes. Is tobacco safe? Not really. But keep in mind that we have practically zero studies on smoking “herbal” blends (damiana, etc) so we cannot exactly deem them safe. Retail cigarette tobacco also has superior burn qualities to most kitchen herbs, and is quite easy to roll.

I’m not trying to get you hooked on tobacco. It’s a nasty habit. In fact, this guide is written primarily for people who already smoke tobacco (on its own or in a spliff.) If you don’t smoke tobacco, feel free to substitute that here with your favorite herb or blend of herbs.

Let’s start with some math. Unless you have a milligram accurate scale to the thousandth (0.001 g) these numbers will be slightly off. If your scale is accurate to the tenth of a gram (0.1g) then expect the numbers to be off by quite a bit! With these synthetic noids, it’s always better to go lower than higher. A synthehic Noid overdose is not very pleasant!

If you’re a tobacco smoker, you may want to opt for a “Very Light” blend as this will let you smoke more tobacco without getting too high. Non-tobacco smokers who decide to use tobacco may want to go with a "Strong" blend because it will mean smoking much less tobacco. By “non-tobacco” smokers I mean people who only put a little bit of tobacco in their spliffs or take a drag here and there. If you’ve never smoked tobacco, I don’t suggest starting. Also, obviously tobacco adds its own “rush” to the blend altering the subjective effects a bit. This may or may not suit your taste.

Measuring Dosage

This is the most important part of the process, before you even start you absolutely need to search the internet and find what a typical dosage is, this depends on your noid of choice, most of the times you wont have any info on dosage, but there may be some comments comparing the potency to THC

- Read all info you can get on the Noid you are going to use and see what a good "theoretical" dosage is
- Read Several Trip Reports and see what a good "experimental" dosage is
- If there's no info i advice you to not be the first to discover a potential overdose dosage, choose another noid!

Each cigarette weights about 1 gram, so i usually use this value for reference, and by this i mean i put about 1g of blend per joint (i like them big and fatties)

- Roll a tobacco only joint and see how much it weights, let's call this X

So you now can have an idea for several blend Dosages, tweak this to your liking after a few tries

STRONG BLEND– 2 x Threshold dosage per X grams of tobacco

MILD – 1.5 x Threshold dosage per X grams of tobacco

LIGHT – Threshold dosage per X grams of tobacco

VERY LIGHT (for chain smoker) – 0.5 x Threshold dosage per X grams of tobacco

What You Need

Acetone: Solvent that’s primarily in nail polish remover (responsible for that smell.) Get this from Home Depot or a hardware store. Make sure it’s pure acetone. Note that it is extremely flammable and will melt plastics. Careful!

Do not use nail polish remover. Other solvents that may work are ethanol (alcohol you drink) or rubbing alcohol. Purer is better, but acetone is preferred because it contains no water and evaporates rapidly.

Noid of Choice: You will of course need the pure chemical, or a combination of chemicals

You can mix the compounds in whatever ratio you want to fine tune the blend for a specific high. It’s always better to put too little than too much. You can add more anytime, so start small.

Tobacco: The quality of the blend will rest almost solely on the quality of the tobacco used. I use the cheapest rolling tobacco available, actually i use 100% organic tobacco that i grind myself, its really cheap and doesn't have any added chemicals, on the other hand it won't burn as well because of this

Glass, ceramic, metal or other non-plastic container: Something wide and shallow with a lot of surface area works best as it allows the solvent to evaporate quicker, but any container will work fine.

Glass, ceramic or metal rod or spoon: Anything to stir with.

Accurate mg scale: We’re working in MILLIGRAMS (1000mg is 1 gram), so the more accurate your scale, the better! Preferably accurate to the thousandth (0.001g) are great. If you don’t have one, scales accurate to the hundredth (0.01g) are dirt cheap.

(Optional) Taste Enhancer: Menthol crystals or spearmint leaves for example, these will make the blend pleasant to smoke

Some Words of Caution

- Use absolutely NO plastics of any kind. Acetone will melt plastics. No plastic cups, containers, spoons, etc.

- Acetone is extremely flammable. No smoking anything during the entire process, and no open flames of any kind anywhere nearby. Don’t let acetone fumes build up as they can sink and travel to find a spark. Obviously don’t attempt any of this in a closed area without adequate ventilation, or anywhere there can be an open flame (a basement with a boiler for instance.)

- The acetone containers are annoying to deal with. They “hiccup” while pouring and easily spill, especially when pouring small portions from the large containers. Don’t pour it indoors except on concrete. If it spills, it can ruin finishes, plastics, and whatever else it may land on. If it lands on your hand it will feel very cold but otherwise does not cause damage. Wash it off with water and soap promptly.

Let's get to work!

In your GLASS or METAL container, pour enough acetone to submerge the entire tobacco medium. (Don’t add the tobacco yet however.) Adding a little more doesn’t hurt. It will just take a little bit longer to evaporate. You basically want the entire tobacco to be under the acetone to make sure the Noid is evenly distributed.

Weigh out and add your Noids into the acetone and stir until completely dissolved.

Now that all Noids are dissolved in the acetone, put your tobacco into the medium and stir, making sure the tobacco is submerged and every part of it is wet. If the Noid does not evenly distribute itself on the tobacco, you may have “hot spots” where some of the tobacco will be much stronger than other parts. Most Noids dissolves fairly well in acetone and so this should not be an issue. Otherwise try choosing another solvent. All we have to do now is wait for the acetone to evaporate.

Absolutely no putting the acetone near any source of heat. Even a non-open flame such as an electric stove can get hot enough to ignite the acetone

More surface area means more evaporation which means faster drying. I like to use an oven baking pan (metallic.) A ceramic or glass plate or upside down pot cover works too. Open air or a small fan blowing on the top of the container should be sufficient to evaporate all the acetone in a few hours. Stir the tobacco every 10-20 minutes. Remember not to leave the container in a closed space where the acetone can build up in the air. Doing this is not only stupid and dangerous, but will also make it evaporate slowly.

When the tobacco looks dry, check for an acetone smell. If there’s any hint of acetone left, stir the tobacco and let it sit for 10-30 mins. When the entire medium is dry (NO acetone smell and tobacco looks lighter brown like before it was soaked) pack the tobacco up and clean out the container/supplies used with warm water and soap.

Storage

Leave tobacco in a cool dark place. Avoid exposure to air and light to ensure product does not degrade in potency and quality. Extra dry tobacco is harsh and tastes bad.

Toke Responsibly. Every time you make a new blend, no matter how right you think the numbers are, test the compound by rolling a small skinny cig, taking one toke, waiting a few minutes, and then taking another. Slowly gauge how strong this blend is in EVERY batch.

Alternatives to Tobacco

For those who don’t want to use tobacco, you may substitute with the following (or a mixture of these):

Mullein (Verbascum sinuatum) – Great as a base because it has no psychological effects and is smooth when smoked.
Damiana (Turnera Diffusa)
Marshmallow leaves (Althaea officinalis)
Skullcap (Scutellaria – NOT the deadly mushroom)
Wild Dagga (Leonotis Leonurus)
Wild Opium (Lactuca virosa)
Spearmint (Mentha Arvensis, Pipertia)
Dream Herb (Calea Zacatechichi)
Chamomile (Matricaria Chamomilla)

Obviously some of these herbs will add their own psychological effects and taste to your blend.
