This is an idea id like to stick around, a very useful tool for every psychonaut!
What is a trip book? It's a handbook you take everywhere, you take notes before, during and after your trips
Later you can analyze them, its like a live interactive trip report and trip toy! But more importantly, it's a great tool for self-discovery
Most psychedelics impair your memory one way or another, so its good to write your insights so you can "study" them later and see if they stand up for scrutiny or if they are just psychedelic fueled nonsense
There's no right or wrong way to use your trip book, some entries will be extremely detailed while others will have just a few notes or nothing at all, whatever floats your boat
My trip book is a simple black cover notepad, i have a fancy drawing in the first page and i call it "A day in the life of the crazy Psychonaut", i also have a small text in the 2nd page in case of medical emergency explaining where in the book to find what i took, linking to erowid, and suggesting treatment for a number of stuff. Perhaps i can publish a book later with this, who knows!
The pages usually follow this template, i made up the contents to give you an idea of its intended use
Substance(s): LSD, Weed and Beer
Dosage: 4 tabs claimed to be 130micrograms each
Route of Administration: Under the tongue
Mood: Happy
Set: Outdoor 5 day party
Tolerance: Probably Very High, dosed 3 times this week
Trip Objective: Have Fun
Other Notes: Didn't eat for 24 hours, didn't reagent test, Trusted Source
Pre-Trip Commentary:
Just looking to have a good time, no objectives, purely recreational usage
Under the influence:
Dosed at 04:20, no taste
Trip Report and other notes here
"just got back from the dancefloor, extreme joy, nice visuals, music is magical, going to get more beer"
Sober Analysis:
It worked, didn't write shit because i was having so much fun, will write Post-Trip Trip Report
Its also good because you can see if you accomplished your trip objective, and if you didn't you can figure out why (low dosage, bunk blotters, too much alcohol, unrealistic objective....)
Your objective can be anything, here are a few personal ones:
- See what happens with this substance, no plans
- To go deeper than ever before
- To understand how this substance impacts my thinking processes by writing down every thought (it's impossible because you write slower than you think and you think non-linearly, but helps you to achieve an introspective trip full of insights and mindfuckery) AKA Capturing your head space on paper
- Think about "insert subject of interest"
- Try to control and induce visuals, make a detailed description and maybe even a drawing of them and compare with previous experiences
- I'll do it for the lulz, Hopefully will meet lots of crazy people
- See if i can behave decently while in public and under the influence without people noticing
After the trip ends you can read and, if applicable, integrate your insights into your daily life, you can write down abstract concepts that you would have a hard time putting into words outside of the influence, you can see and recall your psychedelic experience with sober eyes, and the best of all, you can share it with other psychonauts! There's just no better way to share a trip
What are you waiting for? Go get a handbook that fits in your pocket and carry it around, you don't need to write every trip, but you probably will want to!
A Trip Book is like a condom, Better have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!
Just be careful to not get into trouble with law-enforcement, if you write stuff about dealing drugs or whatever i'm pretty sure this would count as proof, you probably don't want your mom finding this either
