2M2B - Gets you drunk but it ain't ethanol

2-Methyl-2-Butanol

2M2B is more potent than ethanol so dilution is advised, it's supposed to taste mint-ish so it could make some fine cocktails.

Tertiary alcohols like 2M2B cannot be oxidised to aldehyde or carboxylic acid metabolites, which are often toxic; this makes them safer drugs than primary alcohols

This means hangover should be pretty much non-existent if you stay hydrated since dehydration and acetaldehyde are the primary hang-over causes.

Trip reports say there's still an hangover tough, but much weaker than a normal ethanol hangover

Summary of Effects

Dosage:
Recreational  2 - 6 ml
More than 6 - 8 ml will probably be sedating enough that you'll want to sleep.

Duration:
8-10 hours, maybe less at lower end of dose range or more above listed dose range.

Positive effects:
Moderate euphoria - more than benzos or ethanol
Pleasant body high
Relaxation
Reduction or elimination of anxiety
Sedation
Sleep induction - Positive if this is what you are seeking, occurs at higher end of dose range
Increased sociability
Lack of negative short term side effects / reduced hangover

Negative effects:
Somewhat bad taste, comes up when burping.
Possible lingering effects up to 12 hours after dosing, may be negative in some circumstances.
Motor dis-coordination at higher doses, not as bad as ethanol
Could probably be addictive
Possibility of long term negative effects that haven't been discovered

Trip Reports

5-10ml 2m2b

Hits in 10 mins or less

Clear headed drunken like state. I.e. All the physical effects of alcohol (slurred words, no co-ordination) but you essentially feel fine mentally. No euphoria to speak of.

This lasts far longer than regular alcohol, cannot give an exact time frame, as I normally pass out. But there is definitely a wonky-ish feeling the next day.

Tastes worse than GBL (even though it has a peppermint quality to it?), and can be smelt by others for a while afterwards but not as bad or obvious as regular ethanol.

I tried it as a functional Anxiolytic like GBL at work, but no such luck, i was very aware of how pissed i was, and so were a few other people.

I find that mixed with a couple of average proof beers (or similar) increases the intensity and enjoyment of the high (diminishes your tolerance to alcohol dramatically). Throw in a bong or two of some strong ‘erb then you’re away (make sure you’re tucked up in bed).

Re-dosing is possible just keep it low – around 5ml

There is a hangover (quite a strange feeling) but nothing compared to what I’ve experienced with regular alcohol.

Overall a pleasant experience,

A viable, less toxic and cheaper alternative to alcohol!
